The Lake-Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), in conjunction with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), is conducting a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for the proposed multi-use trail known as the Wekiva Trail. The proposed trail would connect the City of Mount Dora with the Seminole Wekiva Trail near the Wekiva River. The study will also evaluate a north/south trail connection through the Neighborhood Lakes property to the West Orange Trail near Kelly Park. The objective of the study is to develop alignment and concept plans for the design and construction of the proposed multi-use trail. The trail will be designed to accommodate a range of suitable non-motorized uses including cycling, hiking, running, skating, wildlife viewing, and equestrian in appropriate areas.
The limits of the study are from Mount Dora (Tremain Street) to the Wekiva River and includes the Neighborhood Lakes Trail from State Road 46 to Kelly Park. The project is located in Lake and Orange Counties.
The map below shows the overall project limits.
